22/09/2012-28/09/2012-Chief Whip

So the Chief Whip of the government Andrew Mitchell has resigned most likely before he is sacked by David Cameron for having a argument with a police officer a good few weeks ago including calling the officer a ‘pleb’ which I thought was just a playground insult. The main issue of this was that the chief whips role is to ‘whip’ the party to go along with what the Prime minister wants. The problem is that he would not be taken seriously when he shows his authority. It was the best decision to resign instead of being sacked by Cameron.

15/09/2012-21/09/2012- Scottish Independence

So the Scots have got their referendum on independence scheduled for 2015. This is what the Scottish National Party have wanted since Alex Salmond became head of the Scottish Parliament. They believe that they can survive economically without the rest of Britain let alone make our Union Jack look a bit odd. If you are Scottish I’d like to hear your opinion. On a positive note I think the fact that they are letting 16 and 17 year olds is a good thing as it is their future being independent or not. What do you think the outcome will be?

08/09/2012-14/09/2012-Police Commissioner

The Police Commissioner Elections are coming up on the 5th November and my Polling card arrived this week. This election, in my opinion has not been advertised enough at all, I didn’t even realise there was an election in my area, my impression was that it was just in main cities like Liverpool and Manchester. I don’t even know any of the candidates and you know how into politics I am. My guess is just voting for the person who has bothered to advertise the most, they seem to deserve it, I don’t see the point, hardly any power anyway.

01/09/2012-07/09/2012-Royal Family

With the current scandals going around with the British Royal Family such as pictures of Prince Harry and The Duchess of Cambridge the question arises, are other countries respectful towards the British monarchy despite many republicans becoming more popular. There was a thought on whether Britain being so multi-cultural would be supportive of the celebrations but the media was surprised as was I, especially as a directions lesson on the Monarchy lead to some class members non Britain claiming that they found the Queen ‘offensive’ somehow. I think they were just bored and wanted to make the class go quickly.

24/09/2012-30/09/2012-Sitcoms

With the upcoming Presidential Elections in America there has been an inquest to whether American Sitcoms such as ‘Modern Family’ have any substantial impact on opinions around the nation. So I’ve been thinking do some of the UK sitcoms have any impact or show the world what living in the UK is really like. ‘Only Fools and Horses’ finished a while ago but it’s predecessor ‘Rock ‘n’ Chips’ shows the person leaving education early and not always legally making ends meet for his family. The ‘Royle Family’ show family’s centred on the benefit system which is now looked down upon.

17/09/2012-23/09/2012-Consumer Goods

So consumer goods this week, Ipad Mini is be unveiled rather soon, I think that one of the major problems within society is that some people have more than others, the typical rich/poor divide. This is what I think caused the Riots around England last year, hence all the lootings except I do not quite understand the person who thought he was gangster enough to steal a bag of Tesco value Rice and then post a photo on the internet of him with it. The divide is too great and trying to replenish the community sprit isn’t going to work.

10/09/2012-16/09/2012-Education System

The British Curriculum is meant to give children widespread knowledge of the world as it develops in the modern era. Having been within the education system for coming up 13 years I have found this not up to brief. I find the curriculum myopic and not representative to anything in particular. But this also depends on where about in the United Kingdom you hail from. For example I thoroughly enjoy the subject history but the History GCSE was based around World War 2 as was Religious Education the year previous and the A Level course on the same, representative much?

03/09/2012 - 09/09/2012 - University

This week it’s all about university, many of my friends have already made the leap and are currently eating a packet of noodles as you read. My question is, is university really worth it? I’ve never been inclined to go, I applied last year because it is compulsory at my sixth form and I will have to again this year but what do you get out of it. Yes there is the social life and the wanted independence but the qualification, is it worth it and the fees, outrageous, and why is the government so keen for us to go?

'They will not force us...'

27/08/2012 - 02/09/2012 - Me, myself and I.

In regards to news, not that much happened this week, so I thought you’d like an update on me instead, so I’m going back to sixth form for my third year and studying A2 (second year) Law, Government and Politics which will all be American so howdy partner! And I’m doing AS Travel and Tourism as I live in a big sea side town it couldn’t hurt. Not sure what the plan is the year after just yet but an idea will reveal itself in my mind no doubt. Quick little paragraph instead of my ranting, just what you wanted.

20/08/2012 - 26/08/2012 - Julian Assange

Hello, right so issue of the week, Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks decided to hide in the ecudor London Embassy to aviod being arrested by British and Americain forces for putting documents on his website that should have been kept secret such as the killing of civilians etc. To be fair I think that even though he has most likely hacked into the system to obtain these documents, they should not be kept such a secret, morally he did right by publishing them for the world to see, especially for those whose family member's deaths they are attempting to cover.

'On my best behaviour...'
